Most industry experts would agree that desktop computers are the predominant workplace device in the business world. However, when people read emails that are related to work and when they might read newsletters and emails are different animals. Most people read emails that are of a news or friendly nature often do that during a break from work, whether it be over lunch or in the evening or just to get away for a minute from the daily grind.
The next thing to note is that the distribution of smart phones on the market is not primarily in the iPhone category. The Android based systems far outweigh the number of iOS systems on the market, but it’s the iPhone users who do the most spending. They also are more inclined to do more on their phones such as check email. The statistics show that.

Note the large number of iPhone email readers. They are using their phones to look at emails, particularly emails related to more leisurely activity such as reading newsletters or checking with friends. Just taking the Apple device users alone, the number is nearly 62 percent of all users reading newsletters or email marketing campaigns. Again, they typically are more inclined to be readers and purchasers as is seen with other marketing statistics.
When developing newsletters or email marketing campaigns, be sure to understand what device you are developing for. Readability on the device is important, so be sure to look at the campaign on the device you intend it for thoroughly prior to sending it out.
